applying for mortgage

I am thinking about applying for a mortgage and wondered what of your income gets taken into account.I am on a low wage but receive tax credits and also have maintenance payments for the children, can this be lumped in with my wages for calculations? also how many times income can I get

    some lenders will tak ethese payments into account - maintenance may have to be through a court order in some cases. Income multiples vary from lender to lender, but generally 4.5 to 5x will be as much as you can hope for.
