See that Microdirect are advertising the DigiFusion FVRT100 FreeView Set Top Box with Built in 40GB Digital Twin Tuner Video Recorder.
OK it a refurb and has no DVD facilities but it comes with a 1 year warranty and you can plug an existing DVD into it by scart.
If you want a look it's at

Can the HD be upgraded easily ?0

Read reports that this machine is unstable. Some of the problems include wiping out recordings, freezing , etc...

With regards to upgrading the HDD, one item that is commonly overlooked is the power supply. As larger hard disk consumes more power, i.e higher current, there is be a high possibility that the power supply would not be able to handle the extra load, and burn out. If any failure occurs, I don't think any company woud repair under warranty as you would have voided the warranty in the first place by opening the case and changing the hard disk.
So either you stick with the HD that comes with it or you could risk voiding the warranty AND destroying the power supply by upgrading the HD.
My 2 cents worth:D0 -
These units come with the upgraded 3amp power supply so no problems there. Its easy to upgrade the HD but your better buying a laptop HD much quieter uses less power and you can can disconnect the noisy fan.Of course this will void the warranty so its probably better using it as it comes for 12 months then upgrading.0

40gb isn't a lot for a twin tuner granted it is reflected in the price, my humax twin is 160gb0

Thanks Vinney
Just ordered one. Hoping to put the 160Gb drive from my deceased Sky+ box in and upgrade the firmware to the fvrt200.
Long live Freview
Thanks again0
