This was exactly my thought Bargain Betty good to have it put in simple terms, i too think that with a credit card i know i will hate the debt so much i will throw every bit of spare money at it to clear it, preferable surely to a 2 yr loan.bargainbetty wrote: »Check again, because cash withdrawals often incur interest from the first date - you don't always get an interest free period on cash. If you are thinking about doing this, then be really sure it applies to cash advances.
If you must borrow money, I would risk the interest and use the card. Pay it off as fast as you can. Getting a loan over that period just seems silly. I know you want to enjoy the holiday, but you don't have to go silly and run up fortunes!
Best of luck
So next stupid question (finances send my head spinning) should i therefore use said credit card to buy euros before i go? Rather than withdrawing cash at atm's, perhaps a mixture of buying euros before and using it to pay in restaurants ect?

I did earlier mention the loan but that was because "£1000-£15000" mistype. If you can be responsible and pay the Credit Card off fairly quickly then having it on their for 2 months may be more appropriate for your situation but that would be based on how you feel.
So if you think you can be responsible and pay off the Credit Card quickly after returning, then you could apply for the Halifax Clarity Card otherwise you could go down the loan route.0
