Job/Mortgage Advice

I've posted here before that boyfriend and I have been looking to buy somewhere since the beginning of the year. We still haven't found anywhere of interest and in our price range, but I'll admit we haven't really focused on the search recently.
Anyway, I currently work part-time in a permanent position, however, I have today been offered a 2 year full-time contract elsewhere which I am most likely going to accept.
We do have a decision in principle already for a mortgage and I'm worried how my new job is going to affect this. At this stage I'm unsure of my probation period, etc. but the salary is more than I'm currently on meaning we could potentially borrow more. But what are my chances going to be with a 2 year contract? And will we have to put a hold on our search until I have passed whatever probation period is required.
Definitely bad timing but I can't really afford to turn this job opportunity down.

A 2 year contract will limit the lenders, but not preclude them all.
You only have an agreement in principle, so take the job and if "that home" comes along ensure you go to a broker or a mortgage lender you know will accept this, as some definitely do.
Good luckI am a Mortgage Broker
