Parking in edinburgh

Hi everyone
This may well likely be a dumb question....
I am visiting my sisters flat this weekend in Edinburgh. Outside their flat it is permit parking only Monday to Friday. Does that mean I am allowed to park for free on a Saturday and Sunday? There are park and display meters further up the road so can't work out why anyone would park there if you can park for free in permit only at weekends?

Thanks, it's comely bank. Looks like N3, but I still can't see any info on that link that tells me when I can park without a permit.

So you can park from 5.30 Friday to 8.30 Monday. The pay and display spaces will be painted as such but you can park in them too - they're only on during the restricted hours - for visitors to the area who don't have a permit.
