My local tesco has it at £8 for 1kg but on the fish stall instead of in the pre packed section.

Just cut mine into portions and have 4 meals for two adults out of £10.40, makes a change to the £5 for one meal with salmon fillets

This is another example of Tesco creating the illusion of a bargain. They seem to do it more that other supermarkets and rely on customers believing what Tesco claims.

Creating a false price in shares is illegal, but not in groceries.

A good example is Ogio wine, which appears to be only sold at Tesco. The price flips and flops, month after month, between £9.99 and £4.99. The wine should probably sell at £3.99 a bottle (having tasted it) but Tesco manipulates the price to extract higher margins from customers.

Morrisons regularly have their salmon at around £6 a kilo on offer.
I always buy the tails.
