Living Social Sony VAIO laptop deal

Hi folks,

A recent Living social email shows a rather snacky sony vaio laptop on offer at half price.

    They have had 436 peoples money for 2 weeks plus it will take another 7 days to refund.
    If your company needs to borrow £181,000 free of charge then just create a bogus offer and use the free money..........what a scam!!

  • I purchased this deal, waited for 2 weeks and also got the above reply.
    What technical problem? I think living social are cheats. What good is a £20 credit note if I won't ever use them again.

    I wouldnt mind but I thought the deal was to arrive in 10-14days and today was the 15th day so I rang living social this morning..was on hold 19.34 mins before anyone answered and then they put the phone straight down...I rang again and this time it took just over 10mins to answer but she wasnt apologetic at all when I told her how long I had waited.I rang just to confirm that I would be getting it as it said on my deal...not shipped yet!
    When i eventually spoke to living social they put me through to the living social shop to answer my question...where i was told it was 14-21 days and that I would definately be getting one and confirmed it was on and arrive shortly. 3 hrs after being confirmed I would receive it ..I got an email stating the opposite!!!!!! just the same as the email above.

    I rang the shop back and said how when 3 hrs before you guaranteed I would get one that I have just had an email stating the opposite. I pointed out that livingsocial had just had nearly 200,000 pounds of peoples money for 15 days!!!! £20.00 to SPEND WITH THEM is NOT COMPENSATION when they have had my money 2 weeks.......absolutely disgusted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They could have had our money sat in a bank and earnt well more than 20.00 per person....JOKE!!!

    I got the same email. I can't believe that they can get away with this? £20 as compensation just does not cut it. After taking the payment straight away and having it for over 2 weeks, they now will take another 7 days to return it. It absolutely appalling!!! I though it was to good to be true and soviet has proven!!! I just wish there was a way of informing other people of what this company is upto!!!
  • i been waiting for my laptop too :money: martin is there anything we can do.

    Won't be using livingsocial again and there closed on a weekend was gonna ring them give them a peice of my mind!!!

    They have trully ripped me off taken my intrest on my money and 100's of other people too.
    i called them this week was told it would be delivered in the next 2 weeks ......


    what can we do? help :mad:

    I also signed up for this offer as I was looking for a new laptop and this deal came at the right time. I received a phone call last week from them to confirm my delivery address as I was having it delivered to my workplace which was different to my billing address.

    The agent said that I would receive it between 14 - 21 days.

    I am Extrememly dissappointed with this, now I have to wait another week to get my money back so I can source a new laptop, if they have been sitting on over 400 peoples money (£172kish) for the past month and have been benefitted from this, it is a disgrace.
  • I too was looking for a laptop in that price range. This deal came along and I went for it. I think we have been treated very badly with only an email citing technical difficulties. Then to have the cheek to keep our money for another 5-7 WORKING days. It was completely deliberate to tell us on the Friday. We won't see our money until after next weekend. I too will have to wait for MY money to look for a different laptop. Will never use living social again. The £20 credit was a joke. They should pay us that straight into our bank account along with the refund. And they should easily be able to refund us on Monday.
  • I had a burglary at my home and my laptop was stolen. I saw this deal and some light was shining out from my misfortune. A Sony Vaio laptop 1/2 PRICE WOW!!!!

    I was extremely disappointed at this deal falling through but I felt there was something very strange about it from the second I paid for it. Sony are a very reputable company and provide high end product that sell, whatever the price. The deal seemed too good to be true, which evidently it was, and I couldn't see any deal like this anywhere else on the internet. A £860 laptop for 1/2 price? No way!
    Anyway, after almost 2 weeks of hearing nothing regarding the processing of the transaction I decided to e-mail Living Social and at the exact minute I sent the e-mail I received one from them informing me of the collapse of the deal. It was never going to happen. The fact that it took them 2 weeks to tell people was disgusting enough but to then tell them to wait another week for their refund was enough to make me believe that it was a scam from the start.
    This is why nobody trusts the internet. Dishonest people and companies willing to take advantage of people without any real consequence. It's disgusting. I will be lodging a full and formal complaint with Living Social and they can stick their £20 voucher where the sun doesn't shine. Have you seen the amount of complaints they receive about vouchers and offers that they sell? I thought this would have been different as it was a actual product, not a discount offer on a spa/hotel/getaway whatever. Never again.

  • I just notice that the £20 Living Social voucher cannot be used in the 'shop', which is where the laptop was purchased from in the first place!!!!!!
