Bizarre Letter

Hi,
Today I have received a bizarre letter from a company called Daniels Silverman. They are claiming I owe money to a school which my daughter attended more than 10 years ago. My daughter only attended the school during her nursery age and was only there for 6 months. They claim I owe the school £823.39 which I certainly don't and am insulted by this claim. It has been more than 10 years since my daughter attended this school and I have never received any form of communication from them since she left. Where have this company got this information from and do I need to do anything? The letter threatens court action, bailiffs coming to my home, my bank account being frozen, attending court to answer indepth questions about my finances, deductions being made from my wages. This has totally come out of the blue and having done a google search it does seem they are scammers. I am highly reluctant to contact them as I know I will be bombarded with calls/letters and threats.
Any advise will be greatly received.
Many Thanks

Would be statute barred even if there was a valid debt originally.
Depends how you feel, but either ignore or send a letter like the one in this link.

Sounds like a predatory debt collector trying it on. I would tend to Ignore them totally unless they send you real court papers - the vast majority of debt collectors are quite powerless and full of amazing threats that never come to fruition.
Also, if there has been no attempt to enforce it, wouldn't any "debt" become statute barred and utterly unenforcable after five years?0 -
Thanks for your help, I also forgot to mention that they have spelt my name wrong on the letter. I really think they are a bunch of chancers!0

It's 6 years in England & Wales, 5 years in Scotland
I'd ignore them. If they write again, send the letter in the link above.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013
