Final steps of my debt free goal :)

Hi All,

I am after a little bit of advice but first of all id like to share with you what I have managed to achieve so far.

In 2007 i found myself languishing in £27k debt. I was 23 at the time and paying the price for a 5 year "i dont care about money" attitude.

Following the break up of my relationship and the sale of my house I decided it was time to put a stop to this and work my way out of it. Im lucky enough to have a reasonbly well paid job, i had pocketed £7k from the sale of my house and moving back in with parents so I had no excuses. Starting with reclaiming approx. £5k in bank charges, setting up payment plans with all my creditors (all with debt collectors and 1 CCJ) I have now managed to get my total debt down to £600! Im paying £120 a month on that so within the next few months I will be completely debt free!

So....time to rebuild. 6 months ago I applied for one of these "build your credit rating-credit cards" which has worked well. My limit started at £500 and has since been increased to £1000 due to the way i manage the account. And today I have been presented with the opportunity to purchase a member of the families house for a rediculously low price. So I thought i would investigate the possiblity of this...hence paying to see my credit file.

I have 2 negative points on there (aside from all the settled defaults). 1. The remaining debt of £600. and 2. A debt i believed to have been written off with Littlewoods catalogue. During the time of recliaming my bank charges, I had written to littlewoods to request a copy of my signed credit agreement, which they did not have. Therefore the debt was un-recoverable in the courts so their letters of harrassment stopped and i promptly forgot all about this.

So i guess my initial question is, if they had no credit agreement, do i stand a chance of having this removed from my credit file?

Apologies for the essay, I just thought I would provide a semi sucess story for those struggling at the moment to give you some hope. Im happy to go into more detail (where possible) if it helps anyone else.

Any help is much appreciated

Im toying with the idea of contacting the catalogue and just paiyng the money owed to them (even though it consists of mainly charges!). I just want it off my credit file.
