I was speaking to a veterinary nurse yesterday.
The PDSA prefer single quilts as they are easier to fit in a washing machine, but Celia Hammond and the Retired Racing Greyhound Trust (I think that's the name) love doubles and kingsizes.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
This isn't specifically related to washing duvets, but if you're planning to use the tumble dryers too, always clean out the fluff drawer before you start (take a packet of wetwipes). Not only does it make them work more efficiently because they vent better, but you can often find cash that someone left in their jeans pockets.0

* Hangs head in shame as have never washed a duvet*:o
In my defence I have only had this one 13 months its super king and tbh wasnt sure if it would fit in Launderette.
Previously I have always bought cheap duvet which I can get 12 -18 months out then I replace with new.
(I do change the top sheet weekly and duvet cover and bottom sheet fortnightly)
This super king did however cost me quite a bit of money so will need to wash this one..will a launderette take a super king goose feather down?
thanks in advanceGoal - We want to be mortgages free :j

I must admit there are times when I've not got enough coins or money to take the duvet over to the launderette, and I find giving the duvet a good vac and then an airing helps to keep it fresh for a while.0 -

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Is there any self-serve laundry place around you? Those big machine will fit double duvet. But the downside is you will need to wait 30 - 45 mins in the shop. And you would probably need to pick a sunny day to hang your wet duvet around.0
