22 years in the Making!

Dear All,

I have been a long time lurker of this board and MSE and this is my first and last post!

Found this site back in 2008 just after I got married and was being hounded to death by people I owed money too. I was in a mess and if my new husband found out our marriage was over before it began!

Through the site I contacted CCCS and my journey to being a DFW began.

It was very difficult in the beginning and I how I kept the extend of my money problems from my husband I'll never know.

However CCCS and just reading some of the posts on this forum made me feel that I was not alone and that I wasn't a bad person for being in debt.

Once my Debt management plan was up and running and most of the phone calls had stopped, I confessed to my husband but also added that I realised I had a problem and was now doing something to tackle it.

My debt free date was May 2014, however having a nose on the site last year I came across the forms for reclaiming PPI.

I didn't think I had had PPI on any of my debts, however on checking the paperwork I did and so another journey began!

To cut a very long story short my PPI claims were successful, very successful in fact.

So as from Monday 2nd July, I am completely debt free!

I can't believe it, I have been in debt since the age of 18 and I turn 40 in October.

Thank you to Martin and MSE and also a very big thank you to CCCS, but also a massive massive thank you to all the posters that were a lot braver then me to share their experiences on this forum. Knowing that I wasn't alone and that debt can happen to the best of us, made it a lot easier to tackle.

Good luck on your Debt free journey, keep the DFW faith as there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This one really warms the cockles.

I hope everyone who offers genuine help and advice - or just support - on these forums appreciates that they don't just help the person they respond to directly, they are also helping countless other people who read the stories and advice, even if those people never post.

And now Winterfreak, by saying thank you and telling your tale you're giving readers hope and something to aim for as well.

Well done all and god bless the internet!
