Hi I'm trying to make up a cd of friendship music for my daughter as she's just had some heartache in her life and I wanted some songs to lift her up a little. Does anyone know of a good site for free downloads for music please?

afraid there are no legal sites that do music for free. the only free sites involve P2P or filesharing (discussion of which is not allowed on the forum)Ex forum ambassador

Of course there are, you just need to look for them...
For example, iTunes offer a "Free song of the day" deal, which allows you to download a different song every day for free. Just follow the link in the homepage.
Also, specific artists quite often make exclusive tracks available for free download on their homepage. One example is Tom Robinson (https://www.tomrobinson.com), who has put most of his back catalogue on the website.
Keep looking TaBunny - you'll find some soon !!0 -
I'm thinking "daughter" and modern music.....
Tom Robinson is exactly "cutting edge" lolEx forum ambassador

Depends what sort of music you're after, but last.fm has a 'free download' chart that you can filter by genre.

Do a free trial through emusic and then cancel it before you have to pay - 25 free downloads.
The only trouble is that their catalogue ain't great for newer stuff - mind you last time I did it I got a lot of earlier Snow Patrol material
Here is a standard link BUT if you go instead to one of the cashback sites to sign up (I know RPoints have them, presume Quidco and the rest do too) you ought to be able to get a few pennies for signing up through a link, so you'll come out ahead of the deal!

https://www.download.com has tons of free tracks by bands of every genre, there's new and old stuff there and it's all in sections according to genre and lists similar artists when you click one.
