Is a debt statute barred if not on credit report?

Hi all,
I am getting letters from Cabot DCA about a debt which i think is over 6 years old but can't find paperwork.
If it's not on my credit report and never has been, does that mean it's SB?
Thanks

SB is 6 years from last acknowledging debt in writing or last payment unless they got a CCJ.

Not necessarily. The default, if one existed, has nothing to do with the SB date.

    - If you paid/acknowledged for some time after the account defaulted, the default could have come off but the debt not be SB yet.
    - If never on your credit report it may just be something that was never there, so it's lack has no bearing on anything and tells you nothing.
    - Record could have been taken off/disrupted when the account was sold on, rather than due to age.
    - Credit reports are not a reliable enough indicator of account history to work out SB dates, even it it did show. In turn, not much can be reliably inferred from that fact it doesn't show.

    What Firmi said.

A debt or default may never be registered with a reference agency anyway - lenders do not HAVE to do this, so the debt would not show on your credit file yet you still owe the debt and it would not necessarily be statute barred
