Ceremony seating problems

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am getting married next May in Shropshire and I have just found out our venue doesn’t provide seating for our outdoor ceremony. I’ve tried looking online for furniture hire companies, but seem to be coming up blank. We need about 70 chairs/seating.

All the other furniture is provided and I don’t want to spend a fortune on seating outside in case the great British weather comes along and we have to marry inside.

Can anyone help??

Try googling marquee hire places - they usually have chairs for hire. We're hiring 30 chairs (no marquee).

    Do you need seats?

I went to a summer outdoor wedding a few years ago and there were no seats. The ceremony was fairly short and everyone was standing, drinking champagne in the sunshine in the rose garden while the happy couple stood in the middle. It was lovely and the nicest ceremony I have ever seen.

The only seats were for a couple of very elderly people who couldn't have stood through the ceremony

HSS do hire of things like chairs, they have branches all over the place so it's likely you will have one near your venue.

Seems a bit odd that they don't do outdoor seating.....are you getting married in the garden? Have you confirmed that their licence covers this?

Thank you for the suggestions, there are a great help.

ali-t that sounds lovely. I did consider having the guests stand but I wasn't sure how the guest would feel, but I may consider it now.

The ceremony will be in the garden and they are licenced for it,
but so far they have only had one outdoor ceremony so it's a bit new to them.

Speaking from experience of having planned an outdoor ceremony, something that you might want to bear in mind before paying to hire chairs is what happens if it rains?
It rained for us, but the venue were able to host us indoors.
So, if it rains for you, you'll have paid for chairs that can't even be used.
Although it's more formal when people are sitting, it might be easier to do without chairs, and maybe ask the venue if they can at least provide something for older/less able guests.

A good rule of thumb is to ask the venue to provide chairs for 10-15% of the guests - this should cover people less able to stand around for any reason.
