Hey all,
I've never done this before, and I've agreed to take this on as part of my reformed community role, in addition to Homelessness/Housing.
I've been spoken to by another Cllr this afternoon, regarding a struggling family in my ward. There are health issues here, too.
What is the best way to construct a DMP? I'm looking at around £7.5k of debt to Barclaycard (£6,800) and Orange (£800), looking with the effect of getting things sorted as quickly as possible and with the residents in question paying as little interest as possible.
The phone is looking at a default at the moment and the CC is looking at minimum payments only for the time being. I'm meeting this person tomorrow.
Many thanks
CK

Yup - I'd also suggest you have details of CCCS / Payplan - they have huge amounts of experience doing this and will be able to administer the DMP.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Hi,
Definitely go CCCS or Payplan. They provide the DMP service for free. There's an online debt remedy tool that's on CCCS' website. They're a charity.
I did a blog about going on a dmp with them: http://moneyaware.co.uk/2011/09/my-debt-hell/

Thanks for the info guys.
I'm nervous enough about making financial decisions for myself/OH, and even more nervous when it's someone else's money involved!

Thank you!
I've emailed the site over to them earlier, and they're happy to go ahead, as long as I cover anything going wrong (I've got PI through the council). I'm happy to proceed on that basis, as are they.
I'm going to get the forms filled out on Tuesday, and go from there.
Many thanks guys, you've saved me an awful lot of stress!
