Any Help With West Bromwich

I have been searching for anyone that has been trying to re-claim the meaf from the west bromwich building society, and through my search I have only found 1... I am getting very confused as to how the template letter needs adjusting, apparently the time we had our mortgage with them, the charge was £300, when you fill in the template letter, the charge has gone down since then, this still seem too much though!!!! We where with west brom until sept 2005, that is when we changed, when our fixed term ended. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated- I hope you can understand what I mean!!!! Thanks in advance.

do you mean the mortgage exit fees? if so i am in the process of trying to claim them back with the west brom. i redeemed one with a charge of £300 in january and just sent a polite letter mainly to ask for a itemized account because the sealing fee was £50, the deeds release £150, but no mention of the remaining £150. have received a letter back saying they are looking in to it. i have also just redeemed another mortgage with the west brom last week and the fee has gone down to £135!0

So if I send a letter asking for a break down of all the charges paid, when the mortgage agreement ended in Sept 2005, (the only paperwork I have is the offer of loan which was issued November 2003) they will send the fees that where paid. Do you think the costs you paid are going to be similar to mine? I am not completely sure how this works I bet you can tell!! Once I get to grips with this I will be looking into the mortgage we had on our last property with Britannia,I will have to check though wont I, that it is approx 6 years ago?
JUST RECEIVED £390 BANK CHARGES BACK FROM BARCLAYS
POSTED LETTER FOR CHARGES ON ABBEY CREDIT CARD AND CLOSED NATWEST ACCOUNT!!!!! :-)0 -
with the first mortgage i redeemed in jan, i was not actually complaining about the fee. i just wanted to know what the extra £150 was for. the only thing i could think it was for was the final statement, which i said in the letter was a bit steep. when i redeemed another last week, ( i sold a BTL ) the total fee has dropped to £135. so the most likely outcome of the first fees is a £165 refund.0

Hiya,
Well I took your advice and sent a letter on Thursday, received a reply today!!! Stating that they are 'looking into the matter' and I should get a reply in the next 28 days, if I am not happy, I should then complain to the financial ombudsman. So, I guess now it is a matter of waiting and seeing if they owe anything, typical... other people ask and receive a cheque within days, I have to wait and see!! Fingers crossed I should have good news in 4 weeks...0 -
thats the letter i had! but my 28 days is up now. i will let you know how i get on.0
