Offered a 5 day job

Hello!
I've been offered some short term work at a summer school through my old university.

There are 2 five day contracts. One in July one in August. Now I claim JSA so what do I have to do?

I suspect I will have to sign off and then rapid reclaim is this correct?

The job is well worth signing off for as it is relevant to the field i want to work in.

This definatly wont lead to more employment vfrom them as it is a summer school scheme.

So I just sign off the day before the contract, and then sign on with a rapid reclaim after the contract is over

Or you can do the work if under 16 hours for the 5 days and just declare it to the jobcentre when you sign on. I did this when I did a 6 hour shift through an agency.

Yes, sign up until the day before the contract ends & make a rapid reclaim afterwards.
You can't declare it as you'll do more than 16 hours in a week.

It is mroe than 16 hours as it is 5 days minimum 8-10 hours per day

You are better-off signing-off on the morning you start. These days JSA is paid over 7 days not 5 which is why they now count hours worked on Sat/Sun which they never used to.
If you sign-off on the Friday, you lose 2 days benefits.

I can't sign off on the morning as I will be in 200 miles away.

First job is 22-26 july (Sunday-Thursday) with travel happening on the 21st.
Second is 13-17 august (monday-Friday) with travel happening on the 12th.

Should I be signing off on the 22nd? Or the 21st? (for the first one)

Make sure when you sign-off, you give the actual start dates. That way, you will get your benefits in full.

It's a long time ago now but when I was on JSA I was able to phone up the Job Centre on the morning that I started my new job. I then had to fill in a form and send it off to them.

I would recommend speaking to the job centre and getting some advice on what to do. Don't tell them you have a job (after all anything can happen right up to the day before you start) just say that there is a chance that you might get 5 days work and see what they tell you.

Well if that happens and the job falls throuhg I would just rapid reclaim straight away wouldnt I?
