jewellery making question

I have been given some jewellery sets which have earrings in for pierced ears, which i don't have! I notice that hobbycraft has some clips for making earrings, so, ..... is it possible to cut the spikes of the back of the earrings and fix them to the clips. would i need to be using solder, or would it be feasible to use super glue.Has anyone done this before?
