If your child has come home from school with one of these, and you have not used it yet remember they are only valid until 25th March..... you can use it to get the specially produced one pound little books for free at you local book shop, or better still, Ive just found out that Tesco accept them (as featured in their current free magazine) so as well as getting a book a lot cheaper than at a book shop you can get an extra pound off (only with childrens books)

Im spitting feathers because I just bought two childrens books at tesco with my other shopping picked up the magazine while I was there, and didnt read it till I got home.......two world book day tokens pinned to my notice board!!!
Not a great saving, but as Mr T says.....every little helps......

My little boy was given one at nursery and I mooched round WHSmith to find something to buy and gave up as he was getting tired. We do have loads of books already and will probably get some more this week as its his birthday.

Eventually walked up to a lady in the kids section who had an armful of books and gave it to her. She looked a little surprised but did say thank you.

I went to WHSmiths as I had about 30 vouchers and swapped them for 30 of the £1 books. They just exchanged them.

(BTW, books were for Reception class, I was being greedy, I just collected them for the children, but WHSmiths didnt know that)

Tesco & Sainsbury are listed as supporting the WBD again this year, none of my 'local' Tesco have the books in store, Sainsbury only got them in a week after the kids got the vouchers.:mad:
I think the supermakets are using WBD as a free marketing tool, they get Mums and vouchers through the door but then don't have the £1 WBD books in stock. So what do 9 out of 10 mums do? Buy a book priced £2.99 or more, just to get the £1 off. That way the supermarkets sell more books at a profit, rather than the £1 books which I don't imagine they get much profit from, if any.

if you try to use book tokens in most tescos the cashiers are pre programmed to tell you they dont accept book tokens, this happened to me yesterday, so i rang customer services as it states they do accept them in the magazine

There is some vouchers doing the rounds for Tesco, spend £5 on Children's Books get 150 points (worth £6 in deals). I bought 3 Dr Who books for £3.73 each making £11.19 total, used 3 WBD tokens bringing total to £8.19 & used 2 Childrens book tokens so got 300 points worth £12 back!
