Hello all,
I havent posted before so be kind
I'm looking for some advice on my first payslip at a new job. I'll fill you in:
I used to be paid monthly, and now i am paid weekly. I finished at my old job on the 22 June and started new on 25 June. I passed my P45 to the Finance department before the cutoff for wages. According to an online calculator i should have come out with £284.41 i actually cleared £248.13. My pay before tax and NI was £392.45 The details on my P45 are as follows:
Total pay to date - £5834.64
Total tax to date - £761.40
Tax Code 810L
I dont have any extras on my tax code, company car etc...
Im just looking to know that im paying correctly, and why would a recognised online thingmy be out by £30-£40. Especially when this week my pay before tax will be £942.64
All appreciated...

Need details from your payslip. Gross pay and deductions - NI, tax, pension etc plus tax code.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

The problem with changing from monthly to weekly pay is that very often the tax allowance for the first week or more of your new pay has been used up by your last monthly pay.
To check for certain you need to give the P45 details, gross, tax and month number; and from your first payslip gross, tax and week number.
Regarding the calculators they only work under some circumstaces, and give the wrong answer under others. The only way to know if they are giving the correct answer is to know how to work out your tax, and of course if you knew that you would not need the calculators.0 -

Your old employer paid you using month 3 which is the equivalent of week 13 (1/4 of the year). Your new employer is paying you from week 12 so they will be paying you 41 weeks during the rest of this year. Problem is that after 13 weeks have been used by the monthly pay only 39 weeks are left for your weekly pay so 2 weeks tax allowance are taken back from you. This results in you paying 20% of £311.73 that is about £62 extra tax. This then brings your tax into line with weekly tax payments and providing nothing unusual happens next week the tax calculator should give the right answer.
At the end of the year if you add all your earnings up and all the tax paid it will be correct.
Not sure about your figures you gave from the tax calculator as gross of 384 should have given a net of about 310. Also appears that you have given two different figures for your first week's gross.0
