  • If you don't pay you will more than likely face the penalty of a CCJ...Why?

After 6 years of no payment it becomes Statue Barred but a debt collector can still try to recover the funds but not by legally. If you pay an amount of the debt the 6 year cycle starts again.

It won't go 6years after non payment.

A credit account debt drops off your credit file 6years after the default date they have entered or 6years after the date the debt is settled.

So it would depend on when and if they registered a default.

As others have said though - if they have already or do obtain a CCJ then this would appear on your credit file for a further 6years (unless you pay it within 1month of it having been issued). If they don't have your address they may have already obtained a CCJ against you and you would not be aware of it.
