When will default drop off 25/06/2006?

I have a default showing on my Equifax credit file from 25/06/2006. I have read on here it takes a few days to drop off after the 6 year mark, but it's now 8 days.

Do I just wait another week or so, or shall I contact Equifax or the original lender?

Thanks :o

J

  • sometimes it can be a month or two for your credit reports to up date, but usually a couple of weeks.

Does seem to take Equifax a couple of weeks in most cases.

Thanks both of you - I'll wait to see what happens by the end of this month and then get in touch with them if it's still there

I'm waiting for my last default to also drop off my Equifax file. It came off the same day on Experian and Call Credit, but seems to be taking longer on Equifax!

I will then be totally default free.

Its been a long slog but hopefully now I can start to put my past fully behind me. Been keeping my nose clean now for 3 years (Vanquis, Very etc. all greens and well run). How long before I could consider applying for a mainstream card? Anyone know?

When you have no defaults and arson the electoral roll then you should be ok. Avoid previous creditors as they can hold records for longer
