Update....

...I am now in the process of getting my DMP approved. They are sending me a DD mandate form & some others to fill in and will be calling me tomorrow to go over it.

I have now got my account set up with the Co-Op, that was done this morning on the phone & was very easy & painless.

One question I have is regarding Bank of Scotland/Halifax, this is where the bulk of my debt is with , I have a CC, personal loan & overdraft all with them - what are your experiences with them, are they good at freezing the interest etc.
Payplan said that they deal with them a lot so I am hoping that that will be in my favour but I recently got a payment for PPI from them so thinking that might go against me ( BTW - did the applying for this myself with "Martins" help and it was great - I got approx £8000 & my brother got more)

    Hello there,

Generally the big high street creditors are usually very good at accepting payments and freezing interest and charges. If any creditors doesn't agree they could be seen as not treating your situation in a postive and sympathetic manner - This goes against the Lending Code.

Payplan have been operating DMPs and have a great deal of experience in dealing with Bank of Scotland/Halifax, they should get things sorted pretty quickly!

Did the PPI refund reduce the overall debt level down?

    Best wishes,

    National Debtline.

I did put some of the payment in but it just got swallowed up & it was just under a year ago.

I have now had Payplan back on the phone this afternoon asking if I had considered remortgaging.
I have got 5 years 7mnths left of my mortgage & I have remortgaged twice already.
My mortgage is around £40000 and the value of the house is about £80000 at a push.
I really dont want to remortgage - can they make it that this is my only option.

Payplan have also said the same thing to me regarding their relationship with NatWest who are by far and away my biggest creditor.
I've read some horror stories about NatWest being difficult to deal with and their acceptance of my DMP would be the biggest step to me getting debt free.
What are your experiences of them?

(ps sorry for hijacking your thread!!)

    why only sum?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

About £4000 went into the credit card & £2500 cleared the overdraft and the rest cleared my Next & Argos account at the time but ashamed to say these debts mounted up again & that why I am in the position I am in !
