DMP Newbee - Hello & My Story!!

I just always thought I'd eventually get on top of it.
Even though I failed my consolidation attempt in January I am so pleased a closed as much down as I did because if I still had all that credit available I wouldn't be here, I'd have carried on chasing the debt on every card until I reached this point which could have meant another £10k at least on top of where I am now.
My wife has been fantastically supportive and she knows I have tried absolutely everything I could to keep on top of things but I just couldnt. We had a long talk last night after I accepted the DMP option and it does feel like a weight has been lifted.0 -
aww that's good, my current BF knows that I am about to go on a DMP - he doesn't really get what that means but our finances are completely seperate.
I 'consolidated' in 2010, meant to clear my student overdraft (£3000!) and credit card - I didn't do either... which is why I owe £7000 to Halifax now!
Just checked my bank and I'm now £135 over my overdraft so that's fees of £5 per day - I dread to think what my total will be once all the charges stop etc. I have called Halifax before but they said they couldn't do anything because I wasn't in complete financial hell! Well now I am! lol!

Right that's the first thing done. Got myself a cashminder account with the co-op which will be set up by the end of the week so I know now that I can get my wages away from natwest and keep the household bills all under control!0

Yay! Good job!
I've just cut up 4... yes 4 credit cards. It's the end! xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -

Thanks! Is it best to use the switching facility to change over the direct debits or would it be more advisable to cancel everything on my current account and then set them up myself on the new account?
Seems like everything I have set up at the moment can be transferred over online and then at least I will know that it's been done?!0 -
I would manually transfer it if you can, just in case! I need to do mine too! xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0

Good plan! As soon as the new account details come through I can get that organised and Payplan can have an account to take out the DMP payment from.
That at least gives me 3 weeks until the end of the month before things start going wrong LOL!0 -
lol yeah! Things will be going wrong for me all this month and next I think! I just need a plan, need to call CCCS and see what's best to do first! xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0

Well when you do speak to them be sure to let me know what they say! Seems like you are a bit further down the line than me so I can take notice of what happens with all your payments and what advice CCCS come up with before I have to deal with my own problems!!0
