Equifax Credit Report & Score

Hi there
I'm hoping to get a mortgage sometime in my life (when I've saved a deposit!) so registered with Equifax so I can monitor and improve my credit file. I pay £5.95 a month. I registered under my new married name (married in Oct 2011).
The credit report came back with all my accounts and credit history, but I was suprised to see that it stated I wasn't on the electoral roll and hadn't been for any of my previous addresses. I thought this must be because I registered in my new name, so sent off my marriage certificate to the council and they duly updated the record. eeven though I received a letter from the council to say they'd updated it, it took ages to appear on my credit file, and even now it says 'Length of time on register - zero' and has no record of me being on the ER at my current address in my previous name, or at any of my previous addressed. So basically it looks like I've never been on the electoral roll so my credit score is rubbish!
I have been on the electoral roll at all the houses I have ever lived in and at my current property I have been on there for 2 years.
I emailed Equifax and they said I needed to order my credit score again (at a cost of £5.95) in order for the updated ER details to show. I did this but there was no change and it still said on my credit score summary that I was not registered on the electoral roll so I emailed them again and they said I would have to be on the ER under my new name for 12 months before it would show on the credit score!!
Is this right??
I feel they are fobbing me off, all I want to do is get my credit score sorted.
Any hekp would be appreciated.
Thank you
Rachel
