I have the 5006 I got it from SVP last year, its great especially for connectivity, easy to connect camcorder to the front firewire port. Several people have reported problems with there 5006 in digispy forums, but mine works fine.

I recommend Verbatium dvd+rw discs to record too. Svp have these in.

BTW check price of 5006 on svp as they have 5% discount this weekend, it worth a check. I wouldnt go with ebuyer.

Be careful. This eBuyer offer at £109.95 plus delivery is for the LiteOn LVW-5002B which is not in the same league as the 5005 or 5006 models. For a start, I understand the 5002 only records to DVD+R.

What a great bit of kit the 5006 is. Used it the other night just like a VCR using Videoplus and PDC. Then erased what I'd recorded and used the (supplied) disc again to record some other stuff. Simple!
Getting a bit more adventurous, I plugged the scart lead from my old DVD player into the 5006 and backed up a copy of a film I had. It even reminded me to finalize the disc so that it could be played on other players. How smart is that?
