'Hot' and 'Cold' Tap Plastic Caps

We have Bristan 'Colonial' taps on our bathroom washbasin and also on the bath and the little white plastic caps with 'Hot' and 'Cold' embossed on them have broken. This is the second time I've had to replace them - they are cheap and nasty. On the first occasion, Bristan supplied replacements free of charge. This time, for two pairs of caps (inc postage), they are asking for an incredible £12.74 - they must cost about 10p each to manufacture. My local plumber is unable to supply these. Does anyone have any ideas where I might get these caps at a more reasonable price?

I have to ask....how do you manage to keep breaking them?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I wish I knew! They are so flimsy that the little plastic tabs that hold the cap on to the tap top just break off in general use.0

Just bumping this - I have the same problem.
Try as I might I cant find a single outlet selling these for a realistic price. Taps are probably around 10 years old and work fine, would just like to replace the broken cracked and faded top caps.
Anybody go any ideas - Bristan website says circa £12!0 -
I had the same problem in the past. I got some clear silicone, applied it around the remaining tabs, and popped the caps back in. That held them in place
You need to judge just the right amount of silicone so that you don't secure them permanently, and such that you don't fill in the screw head that the cap is covering.0 -
Is there another make of taps that use the same size caps?
Generic replacements of the same size might be available at a more sensible price.0 -

I'm more than happy to use generic ones as long as they look OK. Went to B&Q and their azure taps have similar sized ones, but they don't sell the actual caps separately.0 -

I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
