When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning eek Monday yet again! Ok need to be quick. Small things today:

Morning dnms, thanks for starting :)

This weekend went so quick! Went shopping for my dads bday, and picked up another present for the bf. I hate July! Lots of birthdays! But... Managed to only spend from the "birthday/Xmas money which ive been adding to each month. Feels good to not be putting it on credit card like I usually would!

    List:
    - checked bank, I'm a few pounds out and can't remember what I've spent!! Need to look out for that!
    - checked cc's, all ok- vanquis one is coming down nicely :)
    - lunch from home, and lots of snacks to keep me away from the shop!
    - drink 2l of water
    - PAD £2 for vanquis
    - updated signature to keep track of everything
    - exercise bike tonight! At least 30 mins! :)

    Xx

    Debt-free and Proud!
g'morning, DNMS and Bt1! I'm a July birthday too, glad to see you budgeted for my pressie :P

Lots of changes and stresses afoot here - OH is seeing a huge drop in income for the next few months, is travelling for work for most of July and I'm interviewing for several jobs all of which would mean relocating, but would also mean a big jump in salary. We'll see if any of them pan out.

Anyway, trying to be frugal by keeping close on things like meal planning and staying in.

    Today:
    - make July budget
    - in an all day meeting, so breakfast and lunch provided, L/O soup for tea as per meal plan
    - talk with recruiter to sort out interviews for this week
    - check email obsessively to see if I've heard back from job choice 1 :)
    - bike everywhere
    - maybe gym in eve, still hurting from last time!
    - call people to sort out mom visit
    - stare sadly at wall all evening now that the wire is over :(

    Hugs to all!
    Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
:DDebt free as of 1 October, 2010:D
Taking my frugal life on the road!

    Hi everyone :hello:

I've been reading a 77p Kindle book - yay for cheap reading materials ;)

Going to check out the library for renting DVDs

Brought lunch to work - yesterday's tasty leftovers - I love my OH and his cooking :D

Tinned pears as a snack in work - cheaper than snack machine and no chance of the fruit going to waste/off before I eat it ;)

Free tea in work instead of home

Checked my tenant had paid his rent - Phew.

    Check out surveys etc

Yoga tonight to keep me outta trouble

    Entered a comp

Catch up soon everyone - skim reading while I'm 'working' ;) - big love.
  • *sneaks in quietly*

Hello all, thanks to DNMS for starting us off!

Erm, maybe in terms of mse, my weekend was *ahem* (mumbles) *cough* £150 lighter *cough*

    :o

But the positive side is, the money was my money, not the bank's. The money was not required for anything else (apart from paying extra off debts). And all the things I bought were bargains.

I am now the proud owner of:

Neat threaded eyebrows (half price at £5)
    A lovely jumper (50% off)
Stuff I use from bodyshop (used 3 for 2 offer and LYB card for discount)
Two party dresses (total of £23.40 in Debenhams blue cross sale)
And a wonderful steel boned corset that I have been wanting for 5 years now!

Might need some tips from stitching witch RE corset?!

Now I am completely back on the waggon, honest!
    LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013
    Total repaid: £10,490.31

i am mainly a lurker on these boards, but reading about renting dvds frim the library, my library does 2 for 1 on sound and vision items, i do it on kids dvds, they get to keep them for a week, but it is only from 2pm until 5pm, maybe worth seeing if your library does this too. :T
