Equifax - Hidden account numbers

Hi,

I recently pulled my credit details from Equifax and have found a couple of accounts i would like to look further into as they are still showing as defaulted. The two accounts were added to my bankruptcy back in 2008 so should show as settled (as others do). Equifax only partially show the account numbers and i have no record anymore of any statements etc.

My question is how can i dispute the accounts if i don't have the full account number.

Thanks in advance.

Account numbers help, but are not essential.

As long as you can give enough information to allow the creditor to identify the you or the accounts, then they have to correct the info.

Thanks for your prompt reply Fermi.

I had noticed that Equifax have a notice of correction system where you can attach scanned documents to support your query such as date of discharge etc. but that also requires the account numbers of the company in question.

I had originally contacted one of the card companies (i had originally follwed the steps in the link last month) with all the information i could get but only providing the partial account number and they replied stating they couldn't amend their records without the account number. It's like a vicious circle!

Still struggling to get account numbers - surely name and previous addresses should be sufficient??
