What is the MSE policy regarding posting recipes?
Since having to learn a whole new way of cooking after most of my kids went vegan, I've discovered some unique recipes for making things like vegan cheese etc. that are usually expensive to buy. I don't follow the recipes entirely, so they are adapted to what I have on hand/can find locally. I'd like to post for others to use but I don't want to be breaking any MSE rules.

No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

As far as I know it's fine - lots of people do it. Perhaps find an existing vegan recipe thread and join in, maybe this one? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1451243My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

As long as it isn't word for word from the oiginal source, in your own words instead, esp as you have adapted anyway, it's fine. Look forward to reading themLove and compassion to all x0

When you think about it most recipes are similar and use basic ingredients so in time it's difficult to credit them to a particular person and to some extent even cookery books have similar recipes as do many of the many programmes on television.
And sometimes just a simple description is enough as a suggestion as certain items are cooked the same way every time.
Or with a little tweak.:p
Two examples...Mince & Dumplings or Sausage, Onion Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots says it all.
Now how can that be copyrighted? You can vary it or change things around a little perhaps..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
"Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in" ~ Alan Alda0 -
They did try to pick me up once for posting a recipe that had been posted elsewhere on the internet. On Yahoo! Answers. By me.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

There's a couple of posts on this sticky thread regarding copyright and posting recipes.
If you've adapted a recipe and made it your own then you should be fine to post it, - that's worked for me so far.

If I post a recipe by, say, Nigella or one I found elsewhere - then I either credit it to Nigella and which book it can be found in, or post a link to ones off the internet - for example 'FoodNetwork'
just dont claim a recipe as your own if you havent altered it substantially!0
