Help please. My PC was working perfectly yesterday, when I tried to turn on today it came back with this message.
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 082)
For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810X PC1 Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13 (020326)
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
The PC came fully loaded with Windows NT so I don't have a system disk - any ideas?
Thanks

Press the power button then start tapping the delete key until it enters set up, look for boot order, change it to anything else, then press the F10 key and then press enter
Check no one has left a non bootable disc in0 -
Did exactly as you described and as if by magic the PC is up and running. Thanks so much.

What you experienced could be the beginning of the end of the hard drive (HDD)
I suggest you backup your data to an external device, then run chkdsk /f from an elevated command prompt to check the HDD for possible errors. How do I add a signature?0 -
Thanks Figment. Now all backed up. The computer is a good few years old now and it may be time to invest in something new.
Really appreciate the advise from Santer and Figment.0 -
One other possibility is that the BIOS backup battery on the motherboard is close to dying, and it's "forgetting" the boot order (from the error message it looks like it was trying to network boot using PXE).
If so, it's usually less than two quid for a new CR2032 battery, and they are simple to replace.0 -
Windows NT, now thats steam powered0
