Funny excuses for declining invitations

We have sent out all the invitations and we are starting to receive rsvps back.

We have had some people regretfully decline, and some have told us why. We have had the usual 'we are on holiday' type things, but some raise eyebrows, for example:

I am so sorry I can't attend your wedding (3 months away in September), but my cat has just had an operation and I will be looking after her all summer! :rotfl:

She is less than 20 miles from the venue, it would just be an evening out!

Can anyone top this?

Lol cant top that unfortunately but OH's nan's excuse for not attending her only grandsons wedding is becuase she may be moving house! annoyed is not the word that she cannot put it off for a week,she doesnt even have an exact date yet!

One I did have was not a direct decline but so rude - I plan on coming but I am sure my 4 month old baby will be sick and so I probably won't turn up on the day.

i've had the best man and OH uncle refuse to send their rsvps back until the last day (today) for NO reason! we have to order our food in advance so i NEED the rsvp or a phone call or something! but nothing so far!!

I've had several of declines from people that don't work / have kids that cant make the evening do. it's like what can you possibly have booked on a friday evening when you've had 5 months notice of our wedding!! but hey!
