hsbc recorded default

I just received a message from equifax stating that there was a change in my report. When I ordered my report HSBC (my bank account) has recorded a default of (1) which is in arrears.
My question is, how is it possible for them to record this on my credit file. I have ZERO credit with my bank. No overdraft, no loans, credit cards nothing. I've never even had bank charges for anything so it's not that.
Any ideas?

A default, but only 1 month in arrears previously?
Does it actually list a default date, and a D in the status history? And what sort of debt/account is this supposed to be?
1st thing to do would be to get Equifax to mark the entry as disputed, which they should query with HSBC. Then you should also query ASAP with HSBC from your end.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It's not marked at D and it's marked as 1 which according to this means 1 payment late. However I just found out from them that my account is -£1.13 and has been for less than a day!
Yet they won't remove it grr0
