Ditto here as well. They rang to say that it would be with me next Wednesday as there had been a problem with there stock levels and that they would be receiving the same processor from their suppliers.

Mine arrived today - a day early. What a beastie - its sheer weight gives you an idea of why induction motors are more expensive. Best left on the worktop all the time, I think!

After a long series of on-off set of phone calls and emails about them being out of stock and offering replacements they are now offering the original food processer and had email saying delivery (to my mum) will be tomorrow. She got home today to find card saying that they had tried to deliver. Who said online ordering is easy? She is worn out by all the twists and turns, but then she is in her 80s

Yes, sending early is not good when you have to be in to accept delivery. However, in my experience they tried to do the best they could otherwise - making contact promptly, offering a refund or offering more expensive replacements at the same price.

I hope she doesn't have to lift the thing!

For those who missed out, this one from Tchibo looks like its the same but better (it has variable speed) and the price is very good, however without seeing it I cannot tell if it's got an induction motor.

It's not better: it does not have an induction motor. It is therefore much noisier, will probably produce less useful power (it's 600W compared to 650 AND brushed motors tend to be less efficient, meaning the useful power difference will be greater), and won't last as long (but that might in practice not make any difference). I am 90% sure it does not have an induction motor because it doesn't mention that it does, and controlling the speed of induction motors is very difficult - which why the Kenwood has a single speed.

Also, the Kenwood is heavy enough not to need suction pads!

Apart from the internals, it does look scarily similar to the Kenwood one, including the pulse switch and the blade storage box.

We've got a Somerfield with a Tchibo franchise so I went to see if they had them in stock yet. Unfortunately they didn't but as soon as they do, I'll pick one up and will be able to tell about the motor straight away from the weight.
