15 working days to complete....

Hi all

My mortgage offer came through the post yesterday which is great. The only problem is the application is only valid till 20th July and they wont extend even for a day. The lender has instructed the solicitor and i received the docs to sign and send back to the solicitor today.

My question is whether the solicitor has time to do all their bits n bobs before 20th July? I am sending everything off to them tomorrow. The solicitor is Barnetts solicitors.

Should i call them and make them aware of the deadline straight away or should i stop worrying and let them get on with it?

15 working days just seems tight.

Thanks guys :)

It is very doable with a decent solicitor but Barnetts are not great in my experience. Keep on at them and make sure they are aware of the deadline on day 1.

Is the property leasehold or freehold? Suggest they take indemnity policies as required for speed

Hi GMS. It's a standard freehold. What's an indemnity policy please?

Policies can be put in place rather than do searches. Speeds things up.

Barnetts should send you a letter with a contact name. Ring them as soon as you get it and explain the urgency.

I assume Barnetts were a free legals from the lender?

Thanks The J. My current mortgage is with a lender called Future Mortgages and as they have now closed to new business it seems impossible to talk to them. This makes me wonder how quick the solicitors will get a redemption figure out of them. On the form it asks for FM account number and name but not their address. How would they go about making contact?

    Really appreciate your help

They will be extremely keen to get rid of you you would hope so that side of the business will be on the ball.
