Graduate/Loan Help.

I graduated from uni in 2010, since then I have been working abroad, doing temp work, travelling etc...
I have managed to get myself a good graduate job earning £36,000 that starts this September. However, a couple of years spent travelling around and working abroad is quite expensive and as such I currently have zero money to get myself set-up for my new job.
I need to find somewhere to live, learn to drive, get a car and buy myself some suits and things.
In order to finance this I was thinking about getting a graduate loan of around £6,000. I currently have a Barclayloan of £1,000 but no overdraft or anything else and I have always paid my loan balance every month. My Experien credit rating is fair - I think because I am not registered on the electoral roll (because I have nowhere to live really) and I went over my graduate overdraft in 2010 while I was living in France.
I currently have my graduate account with Barclays but they won't consider me for a graduate loan because I am not currently employed - even though I have a contract and first placement for my job in Sept.
I know some of the other high street banks say that a 'confirmed job offer' is enough to qualify for their graduate loans so do you think it is worthwhile switching to another bank and then applying? Will this be possible in the space of about a month? or do you have any other suggestions?
I really need this money in order to live for my first month of work, move house and drive to my new offices - any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you have any driving experience? Is it an essential part of your new role? You have not left yourself long to learn.0

Unfortunately I have never been able to afford to learn and get car insurance. I thought that the role was going to be in London so I wouldn't need to drive straight away and I was going to take weekly lessons, but it happens that my first placement (6 months) is in Northampton where it is kind-of essential to drive.0
