Hello all
Been thinking of a way to use my some strawberries in the fridge, was thinking if I could make a strawberry upside down cake using a basic sponge mix with strawberries in the base of the tin?
I have never tried this before, just wondered if any of you clever lot had, or had any suggestions/tips?
Or would this just be disgusting?
If I do make it, would I need to mix sugar in with the strawberries?
Any suggestions would be graciously accepted :j

Sounds yummy, but you could always try a baked strawberry cheese cake?
So easy my eight year old makes it and it always without exception is amazing. You just have to make it the day before you want to eat it. Dont know why but it is always much nicer the day after.

Just change the raspberries to strawberries or which ever fruit you want to use.
P.s the cheese cake can be made a little more adult for dinner parties etc if you use part cooked pear and a generous helping of amaretto.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
The only problem l can see is that strawbs go very watery, would need a fixed base tin. Yes add a little sugar to help it go syrupy.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I'm not sure this will work. I once tried to make a strawberry pie and it went very wrong - strawberries don't seem to cook very well. As Taadaa said they go very watery! However strawberries chopped up very small and stirred through a sponge mixture to make cupcakes works quite nicely, though not as good as raspberries or blueberries or similar.
Make smoothies/milkshakes with them?0 -
Hmmmm if l was going to put them in the cake l would make a puree and add aittle more flour to compensate for the additional water.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Thank you for your advice, I will most likely make smoothies for breakfast with them instead
