Hi
I've just made a major clothes purchase; in TJ Hughes there were some kaftan tops, pants, and skirts, all of which fitted me in various sizes, and gave me confidence for the weddings and things I need to attend and look smart for this year. I'm a short overweight pear shape, and clothes shopping is normally a nightmare. So to find trousers which don't need turning up (I think they're cropped) and a tunic which skims over the flab overhang is GREAT. Only problem is; they are linen or a linen mix (I haven't checked the labels yet) and I find them slightly itchy. What would be the best and kindest way to launder them or do whatever to make them slightly more bearable to wear? I'm intolerant of wool too. I would be too hot if I wore a camisole underneath.
Cheers in advance

Apparently if you iron them on the inside, it flattens the fibres (or something) and makes it more comfy to wear.
Worked for me (but then I'm very impressionable :rotfl: )"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

I read somewhere that putting a couple of tablespoons of cream rinse for your hair in the final rinse helps to soften linen....but I haven't tried it myself!♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0

Thanks, I'll try the first one first, and if that ain't enough, I'll try the second one. I've got a couple of weeks!0

It may just be that the fabric is stiff and this will wash out after a couple of washes anyway.
As a tall barrel shape - I may have to try TJ Hughes."This site is addictive!"

Yes linen certainly does get softer (and nicer!) the more you wash it♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0
