Friday 29th June - What small DFW things will you do today?!?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Good morning  yay to it being Friday :D (although seeing as I had 2 days off sick it does seem to have been a very quick week! :o)

Things for today:
* checked banking
* did VSP & updated spreadsheet & sig
* all meals from stores (was v naughty and went out for dinner with oh last night - although did use taste card so got 1 meal free!)
* check onepoll
* do swagbucks - still not 100% sure on how it works???
* walk to appt later rather than driving & paying for parking
* go for a run this evening (oh is in essay hell so need to occupy myself...actually he's now just told me he's playing football tonight...)
* speak to brother to see when he's giving me back the money he owes me...

Ok think that's my lot! Have a great day x

This morning I went through the CCCS Debt Rememedy and organised to set up a DMP, also set up a new bank account with the Co-Op.

Well an hour after doing that I've managed to clear one of the debts lol. We owed EDF for Electric from our old house. The CCCS said they needed recent statements/bills for all the creditors so dug some of the paperwork out and having looked at the bills from them I noticed they were charging the daily rate for 52 days after we had moved out, and despite me telling them the final meter readings on the day we left they had used different readings on one of the bills so rang them up and they did an amendment and my electric account is now £1.48 in credit lol. The gas account has also had the bill reduced although not cleared fully. It's a small step though in the right direction :)

The list for the rest of the day includes paying a cheque into my bank account and going to my parents house tonight for a free takeaway :D
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

Have you entered any before? It's a bit of effort but really worth it, I only started again at the end of May and my wins are in my signature, but I also won a £150 necklace which was personalised for me and my OH is keeping it to give to me for my birthday. I sold the iron I won on amazon and after fee's have £180 from it which will be used to pay phone bill and buy food etc :)

Morning all, I haven't been on in a while. Just been so busy and not near the pc. It's a bit more of a chore posting from my phone:o

    Today I have

    - been to Ulster bank to lift cash to deposit in another bank to cover mortgage payments and into another bank to enable me to have access to some cash and pay cc bill. It's all so primitive and I felt very vulnerable with a large amount of cash on me even though it was only for a very short time.
    - paid cc
    - will do a small shop at Mr T later
    - go to work tonight then off for 2 weeks:j

Have a lovely day everyone xx

No I've not entered any comps before but I am trying to get into the habit of doing it, its just knowing where to start.

That is some good wins that you have had, so I guess it is worth the effort.

  • Good evening folks!

I'm sending this from my shiny new pc. It's very fast. Love it!

Hope that OH will love it too. Although I'm not sure how I will get all our stuff off the old pc?

I'm on my own all weekend as OH is on a stag do in York. My plan is to generally potter about in the garden.

    Today's mse things were:

Check online banking (all in order. I think. The mystery £100 is not pending to come out of my account any more, but maybe it will still vanish? Who knows?!)

Breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores

    Charged phone in work

Shiny new pc will actually save on petrol as OH will not go to uni over the summer to record

Not a NSD as paid my friend back £12 for some stuff he picked up for me from Lakeland)

Got my friend's bf to come round about trimming back our trees (trainee tree surgeon on mate's rates :D)

Now, must dissuade myself from spending any money over the weekend. It's weird having money in my account. Part of me wishes to go over to the beauty salon and be totally pampered. The other part of me wishes to save it all back until after the double bill of weddings and hen nights that are coming up (am saving some specially for it) and pay the rest off my cc.

As much as I want to be debt free, I'm not totally skint and it means I don't focus as much as I could. I was toying with the idea of pampering myself (eyebrows, nails etc) but it's not quite the same if you have to do all the hard work! :rotfl:
