Lidl & Aldi Chicken

Hi
So OH and I are really into our salads for work lunches, however the meat which I put with it can be quite expensive.
I think if I buy a whole chicken and use the meat off that for the week then this should work out cheaper in the long run.
I have compared the prices in the usual supermarkets but was wondering what the price per kg is in lidl and aldi?
also any other suggestions would be gratefully received
Thanks

Prices vary in all supermarkets depending if the chickens are on offer or not. Sometimes a certain size will be on offer and not the other sizes! Sorry not much help there.
Have you considered buying a ready cooked chicken? Sometimes they are on offer and are the same price as the uncooked; and of course you save on time and gas.0 -
I bought my DD a large aldi chicken a few weeks ago and it cost £4.10 and it did her and the family (altogether 6) for two meals .Fist one roast with the trimmings and the second one I stripped the meat off and they had a nice curry from it She said it was fine and the boys wolfed it down0

I bought a bag of frozen chicken breasts the other day from Aldi.
There were 5 in there for £3.79 for a 700g bag.
They do have a 1kg bag for about the same size but that has water added to the chicken, so I went for the lower weight without added water.
They are branded as Oakhurst 100% chicken breasts, no added water, Grade A etc etc.

Fizzy, if you are using chicken breast for salads, try this:
Slice your raw chicken breast into slices, add some spice mix (loads of recipes here http://www.food.com/recipe-finder/all/spice-mix) and a bit of lemon juice.
Marinade for a few hours, dry fry on a medium heat or cook on a George Foreman.
Leave to cool and slice into small strips/chunks and add this to your salad.0 -
Aldi medium chicken in is £2.05 p kg, the large £2.08.
I've deicded I'm going to buy several poach at once, strip the meat for sarnies/ salads and freeze in portions and have the stock for soup etcPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I got a whole free range chicken from Lidl just over £4 and OH roasted it for his rolls.
Dulano sliced chicken breast 125g is on offer at Lidl from today for 99p (was 1.39)
For chicken not fed on GM feed, choose Lidl's organic and Bally Manor ranges, they told me.0 -
I like the chicken breast in Lidl, I always stock the freezer when they have it in the weekend half price offers
I notice that Lidl have turkey steaks half price on 6 July weekend in some stores0
