I have a friend whose iPhone won't connect to his email service.
I think the ISP is hosts.co.uk.
If I set up the information in a PC-based email client (Thunderbird) it works, but I just can't seem to get it working on the iPhone using the included email app.
Now, I'm sure I had it going about 6 months ago, but it looks to have stopped for some reason.
I entered the same information again from scratch both on the PC and on the iPhone, but it's just plain not working.
I'm not sure what phone company it is his phone is with, but general web surfing works (ie. google comes up in the browser).
Has anybody got any tips as to things to try, hidden gotchas, etc.?
I'm considering getting another email app onto the phone just to separate that out too. Is there one that is particularly good?
I know the info is a bit imprecise, but thanks very much for your help!

The built in email on Apple iThings is good for Google Mail and for yahoo. I have found it rubbish however for connecting to special internet providers email directly. Solved it in the case of ntlworld legacy email addresses, by setting NTL to forward copies of all mail to Yahoo, then read the mail in Yahoo which the iThing handles well.0
