Time For A New TV....

Well after saying that i was getting my parents a new TV, we took them to Comet (we have vouchers).
I wanted them to get a flat screen TV but mum was more than happy to select her own and she poted for a Samsung WS32Z429TQ (32" 100Hz hd ready slim fit widescreen tv)
So because we had some extra vouchers i got them to consider a home cinema system. The salesaman pointed us to the Panasonic SCHT-540 (£149.99)
I asked if we took them both could we get a discount? He told us that only happens if the there are deals on the systems, which there wasnt on this.
We are buying in 4 weeks when we return from our hols so im hoping that they may have a sale on with easter....
Have any of you guys had luck in asking for a discount and if so how did you put it??
