Company Credit cards - bad credit...

I work for a large PLC and am thinking of going for a promotion. The job would involve quite a bit of travel and a company credit card
The scheme they use is through Barclay card, would that involve me being credit checked? I have 3 defaults so ive no chance of being approved if so, and really need the card for trains etc id have to book, does anyone know if they just issue then, or if you have to get checked?! im pretty sure they issue them as the limit is only about 1000pound?

I had to get a company card when I still had a few 3s on my report so I was a bit worried but as it turns out they didn't even do a credit search. (Amex)0

As it's a company credit card, surely its the company thats paying it off? So I would presume that your rating wouldnt matter.
Get for the job! Dont let something like that hold you back!0 -

That's not the way it works unfortunately. You are still responsible for paying the bill & claiming the expenses back from your employer. Companies prefer their employees using them as they make keeping track of expenses easier.0 -

Don't think that's right.
I've had a few companycards from different companies I've worked for and in every case the company pays the bill directly. I do have to keep receipts so the book keeper can balance the statements when they come in.
Just as well, as I'd never have passed a credit check! Go for it!

I have a small company and company credit cards with Barclaycard. The credit checks are done against the company or director that is responsible for repayment - not the person being issued with the card.
It's a similar situation as when you add an additional card holder to your own credit card account - you as the acocunt holder are responsbible for the repayments, not the additional card holder.

I think its different with each company. We reimburse our staff 2 days before the Direct Debit is taken from their personal account by the card issuer.
As for the credit checking I know our staff arent credit checked as the company is jointly liable for the debts on the cards. We set the limits for our staff and dont allow personal use of the card.0 -
thanks everyone for the advice! im gonna go for the job, i know sum1 that has a card and they pay it themselves but claim the money back, fairly sure as the limits are so low they dont credit check you0
