Looks like a straightforward net cylinder with an inverted tunnel at both ends..or one end would do.

indeed. traps are cheap to buy from ebay. They go through the nice easy hole at the front, but spikes stop them getting back out.
Bacon on a weighted fishing line works apparently They just grip onto the bacon and don't let go. Suffolk thing looks fun - I'm game!Tim0 -

Well this is a bit of an old thread.
After my son was shown a crayfish on a school trip we though we would have a go a catching a few. I made a trap out of chicken wire and afew zip ties, put in a chicken leg and dropped it in a local stream. I had been to see the landowner and got permission. From lunchtime to early evening we caught one - but that proved they were there :T dropped it back in a left over night and there were 6 waiting the next day :cool:0 -

The signal crayfish are regarded as a pest according to HFW a few weeks ago there are millions of them in the waterways.

Go to your fishmonger (we went to sainsbugs fish counter) Get some mackerel heads. Tie them up in one leg of a pair of tights and lower this into a clear stream. Leave it for about 20 minutes, and you'll see the crayfish coming to see what the fuss is about. Once they start eating, gently pull the tights out of the water, then using a small net ( like you get in bargain shops) you just scoop 'em out. We ate ours about 2 hours after catching them and they were lovely!
Happy hunting.!!0 -
