Mortgage Advice Needed

Dear Forumites,
This is the first time I have used a forum, so please excuse any mistakes. I promise you they are deliberate.
My question is regarding my Mortgage.
I have been paying the Mortgage and the endowment policies on my house solely for the last ten years after my Husband walked out. Although we never finalized the separation at that point, after a serious house fire last year (which has seen the house completely rebuilt in areas and decorated throughout), he has just filed for divorce.
I have no problem with the divorce, but he is seeking to retain the endowment policies which are in his name and wants half the house unless I can get his name off the mortgage. I have spoken with the bank and despite the fact I can prove I have pay solely for the last ten years that will no only lend based on income.
Does anyone know of anyone that will still lend based on my financial history? If not does anyone have any suggestions at how the children and I can keep our home, but without his involvement?
I do have a solicitor who at the moment is advising me to stay in mediation as it's cheaper, but I really need some help. My £7500 per year v his £82000 doesn't really balance out.
Thanks for any help in advance.
