main thing i have learnt from this thread, if i did over a marmite lorry (joke, don't want to get into twitter type trouble) i would i have a load of customers.

yes i grab things on offer, if you know you will use them in a reasonable amount of time it would be daft not to IMO

There was a time where I bought an own brand and it was acceptable.

We have been buying Tesc*'s own version and it seems to be accepted, though recently I bought some original Marmite in Lidl when I couldn't get to Tesc*, . We also get Vegemite, which one of DD's actually prefers. Slightly milder version of Marmite. Couple months ago I found some at HB for 50p a jar - I was on my bike otherwise I would have cleared the shelves.

Living in Asia where a jar of Marmite costs the same as an entire weekly shop, it was a real treat. Anyone who visited from UK was pressed into lugging a few jars over - maybe that why we're a bit Marmite-obsessed!
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Yes, I'd do this sort of thing, within reason.

3 jars of Marmite - yes, I'd snaffle the lot, as Mr LW and I go through one of the really BIG jars every fortnight.

If there's a shelf-full of whatever's on offer, I'd take just a few, I wouldn't grab 50 of something; for one thing, I don't have a lot of spare storage space, and for another, it'd just feel greedy.

I fancy Marmite on toast now......:rotfl:
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • I went into a Tescos express today(I don't usually go there) bought a packet of mushrooms and wandering around the store I saw they had jars of robertson mincemeat for 67p!!!! so I bought 4 jars. It keeps forever if not opened in a cold dark place. I was brought up on Robertson's mincemeat nothing else will do. you can tell how old I am

My nearest shop is a tesco express, & I always look at the reduced stuff as they do have some excellent bargains - guess it helps make up for the other prices being more...

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. AGREE with every word!!! xx

( There are SOME who would clear the shelves without batting an eyelid , thought for anyone else , not even need it , probably go off before they get a chance to use it all and yet they've still GOT to have it ....ALL! lol )
