Quick update:
We had applied the mortgage through santander and got the approval letter already. Survey had been done on Wednesday.
Hopefully everything will go smooth now onwards.
I didn't expect this quick turn around with Santander but nevertheless they been brilliant to us through out this week.

Rather obvious and transparent. You have the deposit and your wife the debt. Personally I would pay off all the debts and make a joint mortgage application.
On your income level saving more shouldn't be an issue either.0
