One of my overdrafts which is going on my DMP is a fee paying account from LLoyds TSB.
I have spoken to payplan, and I have to go into the branch and downgrade the account in person.
I am dreading doing this
Has anyone out there had to do the same?
If so how did you get on?
I now can't sleep again, feeling really miserable and sick, had a good day yesterday made some token payments, and sorted new online account, really fed up now.

I wouldn't think downgrading would be a good idea if you have an overdraft with the bank. I would advise to set up a brand new bank account with a provider who isn't connected to any of your debts.Start (27 March 2012): £25,683.20
Current (17 July 2012): £21,145.17
Paid off: £4538.03 (17.7%)
Debts cleared: 4 ... To go: 30
Aim No 1: Get debt under £20k before October 12! :beer:0 -
I am in similar situation with RBS i want to close account and was advised need to go into branch in person to do so, I called telephone banking and again asked to close the account they advised go into branch blah blah blah i told them this wasnt possible as hours the branch is open mean with work i cannot get to them, so they have advised me to write to the branch advising of my request to close and the branch would then call to confirm.
As you are requesting downgrading the account this may not be the same I would contact tho and ask if you can write to the bank, as realistically not everyone will be able to make it into the branch so they must have some other option in place. good luck

I know it's horrible but you'll feel better once it's done *big hugs*. I can't imagine it's going to be fun to go into the branch and do this in person, but just think that I'm sure you're not the only person who they've seen in that position; they're likely to be very understanding.0

Hi all, thanks for the replies, I have got a new account with HSBC, the old fee paying account will be 'abandoned' as it were.
It will leave an overdraft of £1400. If I dont go in they will still keep charging me £25 a month fee, on top of whatever else they add on, I hear they can be less than helpful sometimes.ISA £1675
