I'm new on here .... So here goes
Capquest
Recently contacted me chasing a debt for 541.19. This related to an address I have no association with and dated back to 2007. !I disputed this with them but they maintained that I was liable. They were unwilling or unable to provide statements so I contacted the original creditor ... T Mobile.
They informed me that the account was opened in my name and with my birth date. That the phone was delivered to me at my home address in March 2006. I have never received a phone. They also maintain that I supplied them with bank and credit card details. I have yet to see any statements or agreements. They say that this is not a matter for their fraud department.
What action can I take to have this removed from my credit file ?

I would send a complaint to Capquest stating that believe that you have been a victim of fraud and have no knowledge of the account as you have never been at that address. Send in writing, signed for.
Ask them for a copy of their complaints process. They will likely try and squirm out of it but they cannot.
It is the responsibility of Capquest as owners of the debt to address the complaint.
Remind them that if they do not investigate your complaint properly as per the required process, you will refer to the relevent Ombudsman (not sure if FOS or Communications, but as debt collection, probably FOS. Their complaints process should clarify)
