IS THE EDF ANNUAL REVIEW METER READING MANDATORY IN Ts&Cs?

I've been with EDF Fixed S@ver v2 tariff since mid-August last year and the tariff ends 30 September this year.
Having seen some of the EDF DD calculation woes described on here I have never, other than the initial switch read, provided them with customer-read meter readings. My annual kWh consumption (dual fuel) has been pretty consistent for the last 7 years so I have a good idea how much I need to pay monthly for whatever tariff I am on.
My meter was read in mid-April by EDF and they automatically, without explanation, dropped the carefully negotiated (at time of switch) monthly DD amount by two thirds! I had to go through the farce on the phone with CS to get it re-instated to a sensible amount.
Anyway, to my question. I have received an email from EDF asking for meter readings for their "Yearly Review of Direct Debit Payments" so they can "make sure your Direct Debit payment is set at the right amount for the coming year." Given that they only read the meters 2 months ago does anybody know if I am required by my contract with EDF to provide additional readings now?
I am concerned, from others' experiences on here, that they will screw up my DD amount again. The only thing that I could see in the Ts&Cs was that they need at least one meter reading every 12 months - which they had 2 months ago.
Since my tariff expires in September I can only assume that the DD forecast they will calculate for the next 12 months would have to be on their standard variable tariff which I will definitely not be on.
So, in a nutshell, do I have to provide readings now and if I don't what would likely happen?

Hi,
it's up to you, they can estimate what you might use next year, or you provide a reading, then they have a better idea of your annual consumption, so can suggest a DD to cover.
I also pay DD, but I input my readings online every month so as I keep my eye on things.
You pay for what you use. whatever.0 -
The Standard Licence Condition (SLC) states every 2 years from the current suppliers switch date, for gas its every strict 2 years since the distributor holds the date so it can be transferred.
If you don't give a reading, they will just estimate it. Its always best to go with your own readings. Its just in EDF's case, you give a reading...their system goes haywire so you have to call them to reset it. Its madness!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
